ISP & Mobile Network Connectivity
ISP & mobile network connectivity is often considered similar in nature to metro fibre infrastructure, but the application is more specific and customers for such services require backhaul connections from their mobile base station, street cabinet or fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) device. Typically, these connections will be Ethernet at 100Mb/s, 1Gb and perhaps 10Gb.
Older protocols such as SDH at rates including STM-1 or STM-4 at 155Mb/s and 622Mb/s respectively may also be encountered. For the new 4G and 5G mobile base stations or even non-digital so-called RF on glass CPRI connections are beginning to emerge.
Sorrento Networks has a range of solutions that enable these services to be carried either on dedicated fibre or as a DWDM coloured virtual fibre channel that enables the physical fibre to perform as if it were several individual fibres. Not only are those services carried but they can all be carried at the same time, enabling the multi-tenanting of fibre infrastructure and avoiding the need to deploy new fibres.
